We stayed at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian for the first 5 nights of our trip. It was 5 star luxury where the concierge group treated us so well. If you go to the island, you must stay at Sandals Grande. Sandals Grande is in the Gros Islet district. Pigeon Island is just a short walk from the resort. It was once a real island, but Sandals filled it in with the white sand you see behind Jesse to make it a peninsula.
If you go, take the trip to Pigeon Island and Fort Rodney. The view is amazing and you'll learn a lot about the history of the island, including that it changed hands between the British and the French 14 times before they got their independence on February 22, 1979 (Feb 22nd is our dating anniversary, you know).
Here's Jesse at the last stop before the top of Fort Rodney.

Here's the view of our resort and the bay.
It's a little windy up here, so hold onto your hat!
Especially if you've been swimming in the Carribean and are all wet.

We spotted the famous Brig Unicorn, which is the boat
featured in the movie series "Roots" Beautiful Calypso music
entertained us from high above as we heard the party on the boat.
After days of enjoying the sun, we got dressed up for dinner and dancing
Here is Jesse singing karaoke style "Margaritaville" with our friend
Thyan, a Sandals Playmaker. If you go, you definately have to meet him.
He'll make your stay so much fun. A few nights before, they sang "Gangsta's Paradise" together.
Here we are with Thyan after a night out.
Later on our trip, he took us to a Creole Festival Party where
we got to see how the St. Lucians love to party.
Our favorite meal of the trip was at Mario's at the Sandals Halcyon.
If you want to have the best Chantrelle Risotto in the world, go there.
Ask for our crazy server, Niela, pictured here...but she is 4 months
pregnant in this photo, so plan your trip quick.

And another amazing sunset at Sandals.

Before we leave for our second resort,
Jesse scores in the ping pong tournament.
After leaving Sandals, we ventured over to Cap Estate to The Body Holiday.
Spa treatments were included in our package every day and that was great!
What we didn't know is that they do most of their marketing to the British, so we were one of only a few American couples there. It was like being in the UK, only in the tropics.
Here is Jesse serving the ball during one of his
daily watervolleyball excursions at noon.

And then for some Waterskiing at 2pm.
All of this play makes him want an afternoon nap.
We took our first tour off the resort a few days after settling in.
The St. Lucians travel together in this crazy fashion...there are about 10 men
packed in the back of this truck and 5 in the front.

Our first trip was to the Eco-tour Rainforest Gondola Ride. Here we are in what they call the "Love Shack" before we got on our Gondola.
And here we are riding in the Gondola through the rainforest. We wanted to take the zip line down, but they were sold out that day.
Next time....
The next day, we took a trip to the southern part of the island and stopped overlooking the capital city, Castries on our way.
You can see the Pitons in the background...they are so beautiful; I compare them to seeing El Capitan or Half Dome in Yosemite for the first time.

Once we arrive at the waterfall, we have to plug our noses because there is so much sulfur in the water, it stinks!

Then we arrive at the world's only Drive-In Volcano.

And we make silly faces because we are having so much fun.
Here we are for another night of fine dining.
By the time the trip ended,
I would have loved to gone to dinner in shorts and flip-flops,
but these resorts all have dress codes for dinner.

We arrived 2 hours early for our flight out of St. Lucia and then discovered they had oversold our flight, so we made new plans. After making sure we were well taken care of, including a taxi to the other side of the island, we decided to visit Marigot Bay since we had time. Here we are above the Bay.
And riding the ferry across the bay. If you go, say hello to ET (for Ethiopia) and his sister. They run a small jewelry shack once you take the ferry.
Our last self-portrait of the honeymoon.
